OpenAI has appointed Jill Hazelbaker as chief corporate affairs officer. She will lead the company’s global communications and corporate positioning, working with leaders across the organization to improve public understanding of AI and build trust in its mission.

Hazelbaker joins from Uber, where she was president and chief corporate affairs officer. During a decade at the company, she oversaw global communications, marketing, public policy, safety and people teams, and helped guide its reputation and responses to regulatory and reputational challenges as it expanded internationally.

Before Uber, Hazelbaker led communications and public policy at Snap. At Google, she held senior roles overseeing global corporate communications, communications across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and government relations in Europe.

She began her career in U.S. politics, serving on local, state and national campaigns. Her roles included national communications director and chief spokesperson for Senator John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign, as well as press secretary to New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

OpenAI said the appointment reflects its investment in leadership and capabilities to engage with the people and institutions shaping AI’s future.
