OpenAI has officially doubled usage limits across several of its paid subscription tiers in a significant update to its service offerings. The adjustments specifically impact Work and Codex quotas for the Pro 100 and Pro 500 plans, granting users twice their previous allotments. Additionally, on the Pro 200 plan, the company not only doubled the lower quota but also reversed a previously planned cut after encountering pushback from its user base. The Plus plan remains unchanged under this new structure.

New subscriptions will automatically include these updated quotas, and existing customers will receive the expanded limits without needing to take further action. OpenAI clarified that doubling a quota does not necessarily equate to completing twice as many tasks, as consumption varies depending on the specific model used, the type of task, and individual settings. The expanded limits for the new "Dots" feature also remain in place, though usage for this feature is tracked separately from standard quotas.

The company stated its intention to continue releasing improved models and efficiency gains to push usable capacity even higher. This strategy follows the recent release of its 6.1 models, Terra and Sol, which are described as significantly more efficient while matching or surpassing the performance of their predecessors. These developments occur as Anthropic prepares for its initial public offering, marking a period of intense competition between the two firms for dominance in the B2B artificial intelligence sector.
