SpaceXSI is apparently reducing usage limits for Grok Bot, according to The Telegraph, with several users reporting that their quotas were cut in half over the weekend.

Elon Musk responded to complaints on X by saying that “the cost of running Grok Bot was unsustainably high relative to revenue.” Although he did not explicitly confirm a quota reduction, one user said they had waited several days for a new allowance. Musk asked whether a larger subscription would be too expensive.

Grok Bot can browse websites, answer emails and log into accounts. Its usage allowance is shared with Grok and the Cursor coding platform. The apparent cuts come less than two weeks after Musk reportedly described Grok Bot as his fastest-growing product.

SpaceX president Gwynne Shotwell said in early October that the service had 800,000 paying users per week, more than double the previous month’s figure.

The reported change comes as other AI companies also adjust flat-rate plans in response to the cost of running AI agents. OpenAI plans to merge Codex and Chat quotas starting in December and is taking action against account-hopping. Anthropic has said that an agent can cost four to 15 times as much to operate as a standard chat.
